Welcomed a new chapter of leadership
The College of Palliative Medicine of Sri Lanka welcomed a new chapter of leadership on 11 October 2025 with the induction of Dr. Renuka Jayatissa as its fifth President. The ceremony, held at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, brought together clinicians, academics, health-sector officials, and supporters dedicated to advancing palliative care across the country. In a formal handover, outgoing President Dr. Ranga Perera presented the presidential medal to Dr. Jayatissa, symbolizing the seamless transition of leadership and reaffirming the College’s commitment to enhancing palliative care services nationwide. The event was further honored by the presence of Chief Guest Emeritus Professor Sarath Lekamwasam, former Chair of Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Karapitiya, and Guest of Honour Emeritus Professor Aloka Pathirana, Professor of Surgery at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. Their distinguished careers underscore the strong multidisciplinary support for the field of palliative care.
